On the 30th May 2009 myself, my brother David and our father headed off on our Scotland motorcycle tour covering 2000 miles (approx) of road over 8 days. The bikes were a Kawasaki ER-6F, GPZ-400 and a Honda Hornet.
Day one of the trip saw us ride from London to Port Partick. The route took us around the M25, up the M40 to Birmingham (which made a good breakfast stop) and onto the M6 all the way to Gretna where we turned off onto the A75 which we followed pretty much all of the way there. We headed out at 6am and had arrived at our desintation by mid-afternoon including several refuelling stops as you'd expect.
