On the 30th May 2009 myself, my brother David and our father headed off on our Scotland motorcycle tour covering 2000 miles (approx) of road over 8 days. The bikes were a Kawasaki ER-6F, GPZ-400 and a Honda Hornet.
Day 2 of our trip saw us ride from Port Patrick to Fort William. The first leg of the journey was to get to Loch Lomond so we headed out toward Stranraer and followed the coast upto Ayr. From their we headed briefly though Glasgow before crossing the Erskine bridge and heading up the A82 to Loch Lomond for a bit of a rest.
It was a hot day to say the least and all the local bikers were out on a run from Loch Lomond to Oban so it was quiet an experience to be sharing the winding roads with so many fellow bikers. From Loch Lomond
we continued up the A82 before turning onto the A85 (the cafe at the junction was full of hundreds upon hundred of bikers). We followed the A85 into Oban for a breif stop before heading north towards our daily destination of Fort William.
For those wondering about milage, we filled up in the morning at Stranraer and then complete another 170 miles to the outskirts of Oban whre we filled up again. Not bad for my ER-6 which was listed as having a 130-150 mile tank.
