On the 30th May 2009 myself, my brother David and our father headed off on our Scotland motorcycle tour covering 2000 miles (approx) of road over 8 days. The bikes were a Kawasaki ER-6F, GPZ-400 and a Honda Hornet.
Much like day 4, day 6 saw us change from our original plans. The idea had been to head around the coast towards Aberdeen and then around past Stonehaven and down to Dundee. However Dave had
been advise to go via the Cairngorms so we headed that way with our wet weather gear on for warmth. It didn't actually rain other but the extra layer came in very useful. Though not as scenic as we had hoped, it was still a geat ride with plenty of 1/5, 1/10 and 1/20 gradients mixed with widing bends and sheep on the road.
Our route took us via Stonehaven which claims to be the founding home of the
"deep-fried Mars bar" We didn't try one, incase you are wondering, we actually had lunch in the "Cafe on the Green". It should be noticed that Stonehaven has award winning beaches, only we're not sure why. From Stonehaven we rode down to the Holiday Inn we were staying in over night (getting promptly lost on the way their as the TomTom was well off with directions).
