On the 30th May 2009 myself, my brother David and our father headed off on our Scotland motorcycle tour covering 2000 miles (approx) of road over 8 days. The bikes were a Kawasaki ER-6F, GPZ-400 and a Honda Hornet.
Our 7th day on the road saw us bid fairwell to Scotland. Breakfast was at the Little Chef that was attached to the Holiday Express and then we headed around Edinburgh rather than through the middle of it as we had hoped, but we then followed A1 back East and down into England. By the time we had left Scotland we'd made it around with only a few spots of drizzle so we were really pleased with the weather. Heading into England we knew that we were going to hit some very heavy rain as we got the othreside of Sunderland but following the A1 we decided to take a diversion off to Amble as it was nearer the coast and the sun was out more that side. We followed the road down to the Tyne Tunnel (we had hoped to go through the middle of Newcastle but we totally missed it and came out on the A19 which we followed down towards Middlesborough when the heavans opened making the last part of the journey very very wet, but we arrived at the Premier Inn in Guisborough which is north of the Yorkshire Moors for those looking on a map.
